Before I start talking about my new baby on the way, I would like to say that 2003 E39 540i and 5 Series as a whole was awesome car to own, drive, and play around with. Anyone on here that has owned one of these knows exactly what I am talking about. I will miss the styling but the E60 is more updated with some of the latest toys on the market. So onto my new bad boy.....
I am leasing this car through the BMW Employee Purchase Program. So for the next 24 Months or so I will drive an E60. I didnt go with an 08 for some reasons. 1) The styling wasn't completely drasticly different. 2) The payment on the 2008 will be about $200-$250 more per month, based on the increase of the money factor. 3) In two years, I'll get another one....Here's the specs:
550i
Exterior: Alpine White
Interior: Gray Leather
Trim: Dark Burl Wood
Options:
Cold Weather Package
Steptronic
Rear Air-Bags
Rear Shades
Comfort Seats
Fold Down Seats
Heated Rear Seats
Navigation
Head's Up Display
Satellite Radio
Logic 7 Premium Sound
Real Time Traffic Information
Options that I didn't go with: Sport Package - In NYC, there potholes that the car can physically fit in and I do not like the ride of the Run Flats. Night Vision - If I ever cracked that lens, BMW will not cover it...enough said, Active Cruise - Don't Use Cruise Control, HD Radio - Wanted RTTI and not everyone is broadcasting in HD, and Active Steering - Mom and Dad probably won't be able to know that its on the car and could break a wheel and plus I didnt get a Sport Package, so no need.
The car is being painted as we speak and should be built next Tuesday, which is also my 21st Birthday!!! I should have the car physically in my driveway the first week of March!!!! I haven't been sleeping, but who wouldnt!!! Just wanted to let you guys know this, since we are all family on here right?

My Ride: 2010 M5 alpine white, black full leather, etc.
One man's opinion:
The sports package is THE reason to buy this vehicle. I live in Manhattan. The sports suspension is fantastic. There are absolutely no potholes to swallow it up any more than with any other vehicle.
Drive the 550i with and without SP and you will know!
