How many miles on your car? That sounds like an emissions systems alert.

the V8's thermostat is infamous for going. Have the code pulled. Most likely a simple thermostat fix.

don't go to autozone. i did and it accidentally cleared my code. then the bmw dealership had a hard time reading it again. also, autozone codes are arbitrary codes they use--bmw uses a special set of codes that will not match up to the codes autozone gives you. in other words, it's completely useless to have autozone read a bmw code.

i just had the same thing happen, SES light but nothing on idrive. turns out it was the VANOS solenoid and a camshaft solenoid. although i am not sure if those two things are one in the same?

alright went to autozone, i got it being coolant sensor or temp sensor. It said coolant temp was low but engine operating temp is within normal range. The code was also Pending. The only thing is i got both sensors replaced 3 months ago.
