A "lucky day" for me today. My cooling system has been leaking slowly. Had the car inspected at an independent shop 2 weeks ago, was told to replace the "bypass" hoses and quoted for $750.00. Called a local dealer and got a quote for $1400.00. On my way to another independent shop near work as planned this morning, steam came out under the hook just before making the turn to the service shop park lot. Service manager called me after 2 hours and told me the main vent pipe (#10 in attached diagram) going across the radiator broke and vent pipe (#12 in attached diagram) was leaking. Quoted $380 for parts and labor. With 10% discount, OTD price is $340.00.

Next recommended services are: Fix the vacuum pump leak; Replace front and rear brake pads and rotors.

Just wondering what is the cost to fix the vacuum pump leak and replace front+rear brake pads and rotors ?

I'm replacing brakes on my 550 which uses the same rotors and pads as the 545. Parts will run you about $660 for pads, rotors, and sensors at all four corners. I did a good amount of research and ended up buying from Acute Performance (Michael). Good prices and knowledgeable. Call for the best deals, rather than ordering online. If you live in SoCal, he should be able to ship free. Call your local shops for quotes on installation or try it yourself!

Cheap napa and car quest brakes will cause nothing but problems. Put pads and rotors on an 08 535i and it was horrible (pulsations) ended up putting oem back on. I fixed my #10 cooling like for about 5 bucks.
