September 2006 BMW Group Sales Report

This September BMW Group vehicle sales totaled 23,303 units which was a 7.1% decrease from the 25,079 sold last September. The YTD sales total of 229,833 for the first 9 months of 2006 was up only 1.9% from the 225,641 sold during the same period of 2005. The YTD result is based primarily on sales increases for the 3 Series.
Sales of the X Series decreased 21.4% this month while car sales were down 2.1% when compared to last September.
Sales of the BMW brand were down 7.8% this month when measured against last September.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 19,873 units in September was a 13.2% increase when compared to the total of 17,552 sold last September. YTD 2006 sales for MB are also up some 13.3%. MB trucks were up 84.5% in September and 86.6% YTD when compared to the 9 month period of last year. This improvement in MB truck sales is due to the introduction of the R Class last September and the GL Class this past April.
Lexus sales totaled 25,700 units this September, up 16.6% over the 22,036 sold last September. YTD sales for the 9 months of 2006 were also up 7.2%.
