The procedure is taken from the 7 series but it is the same on E60 too.
Turn key to first position. Don't start the engine.
Check any item you think interesting.
Regards.

With "Check" I mean check up - record (no check - uncheck).

My Ride: 07/04 E61 530d Auto, black sapphire, black nasca leather with anthracite trim, nav pro, LOGIC 7, TV, head-up, bluetooth preparation, voice input, ventilated and heated Comfort Seats, rear seat heating, heated sport steering wheel, panorama glass sunroof, alarm, PDC, adaptative xenon, dynamic drive, active steering, universal door opener, extended lights, auto-dimming mirrors, trailer tow hitch, roller sunblinds, 17'' Style 122
I tried it on mine (Pro Nav) and got the following screen:
Notice the SID_HIDDEN_VERSION=l-05-09-500-050331, this may have something todo with CIP version.
The right box also has a scroll bar (not visible in this picture) when C-Application is selected and I can't make it scroll, but it looks like there is some info bellow SID_HIDDEN_VERSION.
There are also 2 buttons in the bottom (Prev/Next) that can be selected to display more info depending on the function selected on the left menu. To select the buttons you have to select the function on yhe left menu and move the I-drive controller to the right to highlite the button. For example, in the C-TUNER, if you press Next you can see this:
If you press Next one more time you see the available stations.
There is also the option Position on the left menu. When selected, I see this info:
If I press Next:
Next again:
And again:
Sorry about the bad quality of the pictures but they were taken with a SE P910i phone. BTW, you can not see the right window of the pro nav because the quality of the pictures would be even lower.
And, no I don't know the CIP version but it was updated recently and I have the perspective view on nav.

Here, we can see the GPS time.
So, cars with nav can update the time automatically, when DST is changing. (if BMW want to)

I've had my car and been on the forums for a year and a half, and it seems like every 6 mos or so this reappears on the forum... Nothing exciting in those menus.

Been gone from the forum for a year or so, but I was the guy who added the post. Darn if I know what the use of the menus are. If anyone ever figures out how to hack the damn lawyer screen, I'll be the first to send a few bucks their way.
