My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
Default

I am still under the break-in period, so no full throttle or over 4 K rpm. I live up on the North Shore of Long Island where the roads are single lane, hilly and many turns. The 535 definitely has more torque below 4 k rpm than my 545 SMG did. Driving on the same roads I need to go easier into the throttle mid-turn. The shift speeds on the SA are amazingly quick so I can't wait to see a magazine comparison either with competitive cars or other e60 models.
The ride is very much improved, no more sledge hammer type blows when going over rough roads.
Can't wait for break-in period to be over!

It will be a tough choice as I just came out of the V8, which was great, but since I am generally an early adopter the "techiness" and performance of the twin turbos was too much to pass up.

Keep the updates coming! Since I'm racking up the miles on my e60, I have been toying with the idea to trade in for a new car.

I'm not familiar with the tires that come on the 535i and how they directly compare to what you had on your 545, but do you think the improved ride is due to the tires or possibly a softer spring/shock combo used in the 6 cylinder cars?

I have the same staggered wheels and same size and the same Dunlop tire type and sizes that I had on my 545. I think they finally got the suspension in sync with the low profile and stiff side-walled run flats.

Thank's for keeping us posted
400 Nm at 1500 rpm is not a basic V8 thing, when the engine rews over 7000.

Could you please update your tyres in your sign, thanks.

PS. Is the car really named 535is overthere?

My thoughts as well. With proper inflation pressures, and warm weather, the ride is very good. It is substantially better than the '07 550i with the same tire and wheel package.

The Dunlops are dead (as in bricks) under 20C temps but still trendy to tramlinging.

Pressures must be close to max.

I have had both cars in the summer, the 2008's are drastically better.
