Default Seat ventilation error

Hello everyone,

i currently have a problem with my drivers seat ventilation, when i turn it on, nothing happens, but if i turn on the passenger side, it does work.
i also get the following error code: SMFA: Seat ventilation, control, seat cushion 9E64.
Does anyone here know what this could be?

Heating and adjusting still works perfectly, so i think it must be inside the ventilation circuit.

Your module could be bad. It's a simple replacement if it's out. It gets used more than the passenger side so goes out quicker

where is that module located? is it the same module that controls the heating/adjustments?

It sits under the seat in front of the motor. I think the part number is 61356927276. It's a black rectangular box with multiple plugs going into it. Most of the time it dirty from drinks and food. I would first see if it is working via ISTA then pull it out and see if the plugs or terminals need cleaning.

When you open ISTA you initially run the checks. There will be one either amber or red. If it's red then no communication (clean and inspect visually then replace it if it doesn't come back on line). If it's amber then you would build a test plan and execute it. You will go through the troubleshooting steps it tells you and The end results will tell you what you need to do to fix the issue.

thank you, i tried it, and i need to measure KLK+FA and KLK-FA, but the diagram shown doesnt really make sense to me.
i also saw that it said short to negative and im a bit confused which connections are for the ventilation, are they the green/red/blue ones?
because these colours go to the fan on my leg support.
Strangely however, the fans in the cushion do seem to work if ever so weakly.
does this help you to help me?

another update: i measured the pins and they seems fine, the fans turn on when i turn on the seat ventilation, however there seems to be an issue in the feedback of the fans.
when i check the state of the fans in ISTA the backrest says 175/min or something, but the seat cushion says 0/min, but they are moving air. is the module broken or something then?

Interesting, so only some of the fans are reporting back? I'm not sure how it reports back the fan speed to you. I would tend to think that each fan could report back its RPM but it could also be the control module reporting what it believes the RPM ought to be. You could transfer over the module from the passenger seat and see what happens, but that may be a bit of work. Though to be honest, removing the 4 bolts to tilt back the seat really isn't all that time-consuming.

I would also say switch the modules and see what happens. The RPMs should be the state of the fan. If it's saying 0/min that means the fan is not working, if I'm remembering correctly.
