I just had ipod functionality installed in my '06 550. It works great, however the haptic feedback through the ipod controller makes operation difficult when scrolling through long lists (which is common with ipod use). The controller routinely gives resistance when I am trying to scroll.
I believe the new idrive system has eliminated the haptic feedback which solves this problem. Is there any way to do this with the old system? Perhaps a progman update or something similar?

There really isn't much that has been changed in terms of reducing haptic feedback on CCC-based cars with haptics so it's more of a question of learning to control the controller with a heavy hand.

I dont recall my 2008 Nav having feedback. I know cars with Nav before had the force feedback but thought they might have dropped it.

The newer Idrive controllers feel more like a click where the older version have resistance which I am glad they got rid of. What you have to learn to do is turn the idrive controller just to the point where you feel the resistance and hold it there. You will see your list start to scroll faster and not have to constantly turn it to scroll. This is not a 100% successful approach, you will find the feedback will make it stop scrolling every once and a while and the you will just have to then refind that sweet spot again. I hope that this makes sense.
