Thumbs up

I scratched the outer rim against the kerb while doing a U-turn. What can I do to restore the damage that is short of changing the rim? Thanks.

Have them polished. I know back in the 80s we use to polish our rims and they would look new again . If I remember correctly it didn't cost that much either, like around $25 per rim, again that was back in the days. Good luck.

You can have the rims repaired. The current 2005 cost is about $150.00 each. They can repair and you wouldn't know the difference even from 2 inches away. I had a rim that was scratched up . . . took it to a collision center and they in turn sent the rim to a rim repair shop.

Exactly. I had a couple redone on my last Boxster and it looked good as new. Do an internet search under "rim repair" or something or like it's been said up above, call a collision company and ask for their recommendation.

if you know of any (rim) polishing shops, they have a machine that will turn them back to new (nearly). I am having that done now on rims on my truck. You may want to research polishing shops in your area or ask you local tire and wheel dealer; he will have a contact who can also handle your problem. Good Luck..

Here in the UK I just got an independent mobile paint repair guy (Like chips away)to fix mine. You couldn't tell it had been damaged and the cost was only $100 for the wheel plus some other paint damage when I inadvertantly opened the bootlid straight into a low concrete beam.

Its always going to happen again at some point!!!!

Hi,

Or you can do it yourself. I'm just trying to fix mine. The paint job is left and that's definitely the most difficult part. The best matching silver colour is W?rth Part No. 0893 351 900.
I'll get back to you when the job is done and report the quality of the repair!

Titanic, I believe you're from Singapore right? If so, then you're in luck. We've got quite a few workshops here that will do a very good job for you.
