Just read someone talking about engine temp and using a scan tool live data. What is that ? is it part of a OBD2 tool or built in?
sorry if this sounds too elementary, but I'm new to E60s.

Thanks.

You can read the engine temp and stuff in the "hidden menu" that is a built in feature.

It would have been part of an OBD2 tool. I don't think there is any way to display engine temp on an E60 without additional tools (unless you had the ACM and the CAN module installed, although that's very unlikely).

<edit> See above. I'm an idiot.

I'm using my Equus 3160 scan tool with live data display. I've had it plugged in the car for the last couple of days monitoring my coolant temp.
I'm concern that Im running a little hot. Between 205*F to 220*F while driving but no idrive warnings. Not to sure what normal driving temp is or what degree the thermostat opens.
