Hard keys (knobs?) for air dist?! *edit* It will probably be a set of quick buttons to access the iDrive functions...
iDrive - two steps forward, one step back.

More from a Germany about the facelift.
Can anyone translate the information on this web page? The online translation I got was pretty garbled.

My version of the online translation:

New fogs. LED tail lights. Rear hollow rounded off. 6 cyl gasoline goes to more efficient direct injection. 525d with 3 litre engine. 530d and 535d to get more power. Help systems including adaptive climate control, more comfort electronics iDrive gets 8 function keys.

Dunno what "Trace holding system" - Spurhaltesystem is.

From digging around some German automotive technology websites, I think it is

Lane Assist

Lane Assist is the world?s first system of alerting drivers of vehicles in their blind spot. A radar system monitors the space alongside and slightly to the rear and displays orange warning lights in the appropriate side mirrors when a vehicle is there.

Hmmm... so t's unlike Citroen's "Lane Assist" which alarms when the car wanders off lane and more of a Blind Spot Assist.

and to Raighne too!

So not much on the optics but quite a lot underneath.
Also new engines, on top the new 535i!

The new "ein neues Energiemanagementsystem umgestellt" must mean the energy saving system
for the generator (see the newest BMW Magazine).

"Im Innenraum kommen k?nftig weitere Assistenzsysteme wie ein adaptiver Tempomat und ein Spurhaltesystem und mehr Komfortelektronik zum Einsatz. So erh?lt beispielsweise das I-Drive acht feste Funktionstasten."

The adaptive cruise control ... and more comfort electronics - as options.

As in the new X5 (E70) the iDrive will have some 8 pre adjusted functions behind buttoms.

But the Dutch site says 535i for US only with 540i for the rest of the world...

I've been reading a bit more and you might be right...

Spurhaltesystem seems to be used in some places to refer to the 'Lane Assist' technology found for example in the Audi Q7 BUT it seems it can also be used to refer to what BMW have referred to as 'Heading Control (HC)' or more recently 'Lane Departure Warning System' similar to what you have described in the Citroen.

See http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm/newsI...country/gcf/bmw

for more info on the latter...

Citroen's System - has a left and right deviation signal.

No way!

Why would BMW leave us without the 535i? A engine like that is made for us EU citizens.

The 540i with it's old thirsty V8 is nothing for us smart and modern Europeans.

Bulls**t!
