Cool. I guess this guy had to import it in and deal with the U.S. DOT red-tape. Had a European plate on the front.

Nope. They are suppose to start carrying it by the end of '06 at a premium price compared to regular diesel.

Without low sulfur diesel the catalisator wil be dammaged on top I do not know the consequences on the injectors.

Well, nothing bad with that

I hate to say this, but I hope the hurricanes brought some smartness to all SUV (and other gas sluggling car) owners.

The new BMW diesels with particlefilters are a energy (oil) saving answer to less pollution.

That's not true at all. Please look at the specs. Grand Cherokee is like the Sequoia (17/22). While I'm not getting the 18/26 on my 545i (no one should expect it - more on this in another thread), it's a little better mpg than my wife's Sequoia.

I recall an article in one of the car magazines a few years back where the California Air Resources Board (CAR had imported a VW diesel hatchback and they were testing it in Sacremento. One of the interesting parts of the article were the small bottles of low sulfer EU specification diesel that they were using to fill the tank.

Perhaps they are doing the same with a 535d?

Of course...i use only Premium Diesel from OMV wich here is the best diesel in the whole country. Low sulfer, increased cetanic degree and the strength not to begin wax separation till -25 degrees C. That's helps alot the engine, the enviroument, and the performance.
