Well it certainly seems like the latest bmw diesel models, such as the 33d are not catching on in the US. Hard to believe a car that goes 0-60 in 5.3 seconds and gets way way over 30 mpg on the highway is not selling. belive it or not that misconception is still here too, i was arguing with a guy the other day, even offered him a quarter mile blast up the road near where i work, i wouldnt trade 368lb of torqe and 42mpg for anything now

That's the problem diesels have still, the deep-rooted opinions formed by people over decades where diesels were "as flat as a fart". It's only in the mid 90s that they started to get some grunt. Most people still haven't test driven one of the recent diesel powerplants. As you and I know, they'd be shocked at the performance. It was a coin-toss whether I'd have a 535d or a 545i when I bought my car 6 months ago. It was really only the fact that there were no low-mileage diesels with high specs around, and the fact that I don't do a lot of miles that led me to the petrol side.

Any guesses for what will win the 24 Hour at Le Mans this year?

Diesel or Petrol?

I've driven Diesels for 15 odd years now and could never visualise going back to Petrol.

Most people who get a lift in my 520d have no idea its an oil burner beacause its so quiet on the inside.
