Not sure if I have the satellite radio option or not. I do have a shark fin. When I go to my radio control options, satellite doesn't show up. Does it have to be activated first or do I just not have it? It's a 2004 530i. Thanks!

Sounds like you just don't have it. You'd need a subscription.

If SAT doesn't show up in the iDrive you are missing the satellite radio. If it was just the subscription it would tell you to call. It is very expensive to add it, $500 if I remember.

if you cant goto it in the idrive menu you might want to try a software update. If it isnt there you cant add it.

You could most likely goto a place that installs it and get a different antenna added. As of right now i dont think you can just call sirius and turn on the service like others who have the option in the idrive menu. on my car i goto sat, tried to listen to it and it says for service call and activate. gives me the esn number and the number to sirius.

Thanks guys! Now I know where I stand and it's decision time. Either pay up for the retro fit or get the aux input and go with a portable.
