satellite radio

Does the shark fin on the roof of the e-60 only appear on satellite equipped cars? or all models?

All models, as it also covers the antenna for the BMW assist system.

I didn't look it up to confirm but I think the car uses a "diversity" antenna system which uses both the rear window and the shark fin. The system constantly compares the signal strength, etc. between the two and uses whatever is best.

This concept has been around for quite some time now...

Isn't the double antenna thingy just with Radio Professional. I think it is like that in europe..

Nope. In the rear windscreen is an aerial for TV. If you don't have TV it's not in use.

Yep.




Somewhere on this forum was a *.pdf posted, that explained the four different antennas in the shark fin, and it also said, that the aerial in the rear windscreen is for TV.

So, when you order Sirius from the factory the antenna is built into the shark fin?

I had a buddy add Sirius to his new MB after-market and they mounted a bulbous hockey-puck-sized gizmo on the trunk lid. Hideous.
