Location and model year of car would help us answer the question. At some point, something like 2006 MY, the cars camed pre-wired for Sat radio. The unit is installed in the trunk and will not affect your Ipod interface. I had both on my 2004 545...

You probably need to get the retrofit Sat cable kit to add & extend the MOST fiber optic loop into the junction box then have the Dealer do coding to allow the iDrive to recognize the new additional source.

This kit does it hook up behind the idrive or somewhere else? not to sound dumb but i have the other post that where they move the cables around in the box to allow it to work in the trunk. But since the the ipod adapter is in for the changer wouldnt another wire have to go to the idrive for an additional source?

Post some pics of the left rear of the trunk ( behind the panels ). Maybe the sat cables are hiding in a black bundle under your amp or in the corner if you are lucky.
