I do have the 2005-2 version copied thanks. I was just curious as to whether anyone else had done it. I heard the upgrade from BMW costs around 140 GBP ($250).

My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed
They always only do 2 a year, so there won't be a 2006-3.
BMW has, in the meantime, realised and acknowledged the Postcode problem on the 2006-2, but at the same time stated that it won't be rectified before 2007-1.
General consensus is, that if you register your problem with your dealer, you will probably have the 2007-1 as free replacement. Wouldn't hold my breath for them to come to you automatically, though, so rather keep nagging them as soon the 2007-1 is released.

b) Is the postcode problem acknowledgement by BMW generally accessible?
c) Registering the problem with the dealer in anticipation of a "freebie" presumably applies to those who purchased the 06-2 disc and not the 06-1 or earlier discs.

a) no , but it's usually very early in the year
b) there is no public statement I know of, but 2 buddies of mine have had it acknowledged at their dealerships, after there has been a lot of complaints and BMW could not ignore them anymore, as it also is the same for all other models using the same disc (e90, e87 etc.)
c) 2006-2 only, as 2006-1 works fine (if a crippled postcode entry limited to 4-5 characters can be called fine)

b) OK
c) Has anyone else noticed that on the 06-2 you can input the "old" London postal areas eg SW1, EC15....
