I have a 2004 530i. It has the very standard sat/nav, with arrows only, small screen.
My mate has bought a new 525. Sat nav with a bigger screen and maps.
His disc says version 14?
Will it work in my car?
Should I get a copy?

if it is the purple disc, it wont work.
the most updated disc for us aussies who drive anything before 2006 is the green one. there should be a version 14 green disc availble

version 14? odd. should be the year followed by a number, the latest is business nav 2009.2 and pro nav 2009.2, these two will work in all e60 5 series from 2003 to present.

Business nav:- small 6 inch screen, arrows and distance info plus voice instructions 2003 - 2007, after 2007 (LCI) small 6 inch screen with 2d maps and arrows plus voice instructions.

Pro nav:- larger 8 inch screen, full 3d/2d maps, arrows and distance info plus voice instructions 2003 - present.

for some reason bmw australia has changed the whole version system

Just put his disc in your car and see if it works or not?
