SAT flash - DS won't engage
Hey folks,
Been a while since I took a few years off for an M235i but recently bought a 2010 535xiT M Sport and had read how the 6AT is helped quite a bit with the SAT flash so I went ahead and did that. No errors during the flash process but now when I push the lever over in the DS position, it promptly returns itself into the D position (it doesn't lock the move to DS out, just flips back almost immediately). No errors show up on the dash, and nothing showed up in ISTA+ after flashing but before driving (ran out of time to check again after the drive).
I flashed the GKE215 ZUSB with 7601458, then wrote $2TB/removed $205 from the FA in both CAS and LMA. I read in one of the threads to also write the FA to the KOMBI, EGS, and KGM so I did that, then updated the EGS to PADDLES=0 since I don't have them. I'm confident that it's something I did [wrong] since DS worked prior to the SAT flash.
I've compared the TRC files for each of the modules pre and post flash, and nothing is different between the two. I didn't change anything in the GWS module so perhaps I should also write the FA to it, but the options in it don't seem like they would have any effect.
Anyone else run into this? I did a fairly exhaustive google and forum search but nothing came up other than Sport button wiring issues, but since I haven't changed any hardware it's not the same thing.
Anyway, thanks for the help!

You may be better served with trying xHP. I haven't used it myself, but it apparently gives you a lot of flexibility on how you configure the various D, DS, and M modes.

Update - I backed out all the FA and coding work (had a temporary transmission fault since the Trans ECU was SAT and the FA was not), then defaulted the modules EGS, KOMBI, and KGM. Started over by adding back to the FA, then re-default coded the EGS and KOMBI (left LGM alone). All good now, shifter stays in M/S and displays as such in the KOMBI.
I don't have a sport button wired in so I don't know what the change is between normal/sport.

I've been through the same journey and would guess your coding of Wert 01 to wert 0 for paddles hadn't coded properly. you don't need a SAT lever for full functionality but you do need a sport button, the only benefits over and above pushing your gear lever over into D/S are quicker shift times when manually shifting and depending on your steering type you will get a heavier steering when you press the sport button. some people say you get rev matching/throttle blip on downshifts but i dispute this and think they are just getting over enthusiastic about the speed of the shift. you can wire in an independent sport button to a module near the fuse box without a SAT shifter as i have done, you will also get the word sport showing up in your cluster.

Thanks - that's what I figured but wasn't interested enough to go through the trouble of wiring a switch in to find out. It's a stop-gap for the slushbox until I start and finish my planned S85 6MT swap.
Thanks,
Andy
