3500 miles and it's been all positive. Shifts are fast and positive. Downside is the 3rd to 2nd to 1st downshifts, which can be abrupt, making it difficut to execute a smooth stop. Minor issue, and I'm getting better at modulating the brake pedal. Regardless, if I have a car full of suits and I need to be in luxo-cruise mode, I'm not going to have the SAT on.

If you're deciding on whether or not to get it, there is no question...get it.

I would agree with C5driver the transmission works great. It is amazing how you can change the personality of the car from luxury cruiser to boy racer depending on transmission settings. That is probably because it is adjusting more than just the transmission, throttle response as well. But I can think that the only improvement to this transmission would be the DCT in M3's, this is the next best BMW transmission.

Love it, car goes from Lux barge, to Bahn Storming very quickly. The sport button adds more excitement to the party , with the Engine timing, and throttle response, 1 gear start, and 6th gear lock out.

Even though the sprint booster is still a good investment.

I guess not to many BMW owners have SAT in their 535 or their to busy out enjoying their BMW to answer the OP.

Only way to go! Mine is in a 535, and I feel it was money well spent.

You've had 3 positive responses so far and I had replied with one negative, albeit small. As far as I can recall, there have been no regrets posted about getting this option. If that is what you're contemplating, I would strongly advise this path.

Thanks for the reply. IMO 3 pos and 1 neg for a web site as big as this one is not very much for me to make a decision on. I just need more information. Again thanks
cheers

Could be due to not many 535's, and not many 535's with SAT.... They have now been out for barely 1 year now. There are a good bit of the newer 550's that have them since there is no smg option any more.

Just some thing for you to grind on... In my BMW CCA I'm the only one with a E60 to start with , much less that it's a N54 powered SAT transmission one... Kinda rare, My dealer told me yesterday that here was only 8 535's in town and two of them were Wagons. So how many out of the 8 are SAT, you got me....

Another point to consider...SAT is a $500 option on a $50,800.00 base price car. That's slightly less than 1% of the cost. Start slapping on options and it'll most likely be in the .80% of the total cost range.

It's not a lot of money. Over a 5 year period, that's $0.27 per day! I don't know where you can find cheaper fun
