A couple of days ago I found my front windows rolled down 3/4 of the way and the back halfway down. Yesterday, all windows were rolled down all the way. On both occasions I am certain I left the car with all the windows rolled up. Is there a safety feature in the car that will cause this and how is it triggered?

most likely you sat on your key or something in your pocket pressed the unlock button down. if you hold the unlock button down the windows start lowering, the fronts first, the rears a second or so later, once they're open the sunroof is next. I've woken up to a open trunk more than once.

If you hold down the "open" knob on your key enough long the windows will go down,
for as long you push it.

The car can be left with the windows open a bit.
Note then also the alarm system.

Read the manual!
