just curious if its safe to powerwash the engine bay or is there anything in there that can get damaged by water/cleaning solutions? Or does evryone do it by hand?

If you are doing it by hand throw out some suggestions on what you are using to make the engine bay look good.

Hey,

I do power wash every 1-2 months in the warm season but in my driveway so it's just clean water. I try to stay away from the electrical stuff but I don't cover anything. I try to do this when engine is warm and then I let it sit for another 1-2 hours with the hood raised so that the water evaporates naturally as much as possible, never had any problems.

Yes you can but I would not recommend it, stay away from the alternator, especially if it is hot.

It the engine bay is really gunky, buy some engine cleaner/degreaser. Let the cleaner do all the hard work. It there is some really tough dirt, use a soft to medium brush to loosen it up. Rinse thoroughly, but not with high pressure water just a gentle spray. Wipe up any water around the alternator. Wait about 15 minutes, then take the car for a drive to evaporate any residual moisture. Go back to the house open the hood and check your work and do any touching up that needs to be done.
