I started up my car this morning, and notice "ALOT" of white smoke coming out of the exhaust tips, ALOT!!!. I thought it was probally just some water that got into it. So I started to drive, iv notice the white smoke doesnt seem to be stopping. I pulled over and checked all my fluids, everything seems fine. turned the car back on and MORE white smoked came out. Took my car straight to a mechanic and he told me it was my "Pressure Regulator Valve " or something like that underneath the intake manifold.

Has anyone ever experience this before?

The car is a 525I 2004, with about 71k Miles

white smoke is usually a sign of a blown head gasket. (e.g. water seeping into the cylinders)

have you had the car for a while or did u just purchase it? does your car feel like it still has the same power it did before the white smoke? has it over heated on you before?

I first thought it was a blown headgasket too, but then he notice there was anything wrong with the head gasket, and no the car has never once over heated.

does the oil look creamy,.....if so, there is water mixed in with the oil. Very bad news.

I have a 2007 540i with 115000k miles that had similar problems a couple months ago. It was also accompanied with a squealing noise coming from the engine. Turned out to be a valve gasket that needed to get replaced. The tech basically explained that too much O2 was being sucked in. Unfortunately they have to take a lot of stuff apart to get to it (=expensive on the labor). I actually drove with this white smoke upon engine start for over a week. Now my check engine light is on and I believe the O2 sensor is damaged because of it. But they fixed the main problem and I haven't bothered with fixing the O2 sensor at this point. Just bought a new 2008 M5.

Wow, that's a lot of miles for a 2007 540. I didn't even think they made the 540 anymore.
