Default Sad to say goodbye to my E60

With a change in circumstances looks like I will be heading to the middle east for a while to join my wife, so sadly I had to wave good bye to the 535D There is now an empty void where it would be parked.... and sadly I look out and pine

Easily one of the best cars I have had the pleasure of owning and driving. Still makes me smile thinking about how you can cruise when you want or drive like you stole it on a mountain of torque!

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on the forum, by far one of the best for the 5ers! I have learned loads and laughed loads at some of the mad posts!

I will still be a lurker so who knows I may be back in a 5 series when we get back

So for now, catch you later!

Best of luck to you!

Since you'll be away for a year, can you ask the mistress the follow up question:

"Honey, which one will you miss more? Me or my BMW"? Be sure to look her in the eyes when you do that.

Mine often answers with both or no comments for an answer.

Not sure if it has the same engine, but I'm driving a loaner 2012 X5 3.5d and it flat out hauls. I think I'd trade my 535xi for a diesel if they'd been made here in the E60.

Yeap straight 6 with twin turbos, and a ton of torque.. I'm surprised the 535d never made it to the US market, supply and demand I guess, but who knows BMW may add it sooner or later

Good luck Jay, where in the middle east are you going?
By the way the 535d engine itself made it to the North American market but only in an X5.

Thanks, Im going to Qatar.

Yeap, just a shame it wasn't given a 5 series variant, then again Im sure the cases of swirl flaps being ingested would have increased, and would have meant BMW would need to consider a proper fix.

Then again the 550i and relatively lower gas prices make a easy choice
