As the topic says. Dropped the car off to the dealer to have airbag checked out and he suggested fuel system cleaning as a side. What do you guys think? The car is coming up on 60K.

Car is 2006 525i N52. I did the Chevron fuel system cleaner in the tank before the last oil change and plan on doing it again before the next one.

Thanks!

Unless you're buying your gasoline from places with crappy suppliers I think the fuel system cleaning is hype and extra profits. I use Chevron Techron a couple times a year and run Tier 1 Gasoline all the time - Sunoco Ultra when I can get to that station.

There was a recent post about replacing the tank mounted fuel strainer / pick-up - I was very surprised to see the crud the filter stopped ... but that is the key - the filter trapped the junk preventing it from getting into the injectors.

Yeah I figured as much and declined it. However, 60K is coming up on the car so I told them to do the 60k checkup. I didn't want to do it, but since the car is going out of warranty soon and I plan on (debating) getting another warranty, I at least want a record showing that I had the car checked out by the dealer.

I only use Top Tier gas as well and saw that fuel filter thread. I plan on doing that soon when I have time.
