I think I'm losing my mind... I read about the rust forming on the brake caliper caps on this and other sites and painting them, etc. I have the same problem. So I was washing my 07 550i this past weekend (I've had it 2 months) and discovered that the rear caliper "caps" were missing. WTF???? I could have sworn I had 4 rusty caps a month ago. Have I gone mad? Are there only two on the front and none on the rear? And if there were two on the rear where did they go? Has anybody else had them fall off?

I believe you had someone else with a 5 series steal the nice new ones off your car and replace their rusty ones with your nice new ones. I say this because all you need is a flathead screwdriver to pop them out. Because, you know, we 5 series owners all live in the ghetto and do that kind of stuff... right?

If you drive the car frequently enough they shouldn't rust, more braking could clean it up some what

Little aluminum cap that you have to pop off when changing your brakes...I painted mine when I painted my calipers...And they shouldn't fall off by themselves... we have to worry about caliper cap thiefs now?

Drive your vehicle through a pool of oil regularly. No rust; no brakes; no __it!

It's very easy. I just bought a High Temp Caliper Paint in Auto Zone ($8) and painted it. Looks awesome - like new.. I painted in silver (original color). Red would look cool too i guess.. may be i'll try red later
