Hey guys,

My car has 11000 miles on it now and the original run flats are becoming unbearable. They are roaring, groaning, tram-lining worse than new. Grip still feels okay for the most part but the tires are just horrible.

I did a bunch of searching on the forums trying to find out some info on replacements... but still have some questions.

1. If I decided to purchase non run-flats (PS2's) can I turn the car in with those tires and not get penalized? Car has only a year left on the lease and the car even though has very low mileage now will have a lot of mileage put on it this year.

2. I was reading in the search results about some sort of a service bulletin related to the run-flats which was allowing customers to get them replaced for free with a different make run-flat. Anybody have any info on this?

Thanks,
Jon

If your car came with run-flat tires, you must return the car at lease end with run-flat tires.

I had mine replaced at 15,000 miles,( Dunlops ). As far as I know if they are Dunlop RFT's you have to get the problem taken care before 20,000 miles or your out of luck. This can be done whether you lease or own. Good luck
cheers

I believe the deal only applies to one brand and AFAIK it's brand for brand swapout.

You don't mention your tyre brand.

Not true. I specifically asked this question the other day to my dealer as i am inquiring about a new E60. I was told in no uncertain terms, me returning the car with the wintersports and not the runflats will not be a problem whatsoever.

In the UK leases are with leasing companies.

Each leasing company has its own rules so generalisation is not possible, at least in the UK.

YMMV

I can add that you will probably not have a problem buying a used set of runflats at lease end to install. By the number of posts on this site, you could probably find many who removed their RFs who would ship them to you in a heartbeat.

It is true, the dealer is not the governing body- BMWFS is. I have called them and you must have the same specficiation tires on it when you return it, if it had runflats you must return with runflats.

If they are, you can have them replaced for FREE. I'm on my third set. Read this link to SIB and have ready for your SA.: http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/bullet...mp/B360205g.htm

Good Luck
