Further, the tires must be replaced "yearly"? Give me a break. Even if so, what's stopping them from switching away from runflats? What about the effective safety gains of runflats?
With the Toyota Sienna minivan with runflats, there is no storage space for a spare, so switching to non-runflats is not much of a choice.
I got a flat on my 545 last week. Dropped off the car at 7:30 am at the dealer on Wednesday, did not get it back till Friday at 5:30 pm. Three full days to locate and mount a new runflat tire. I had to pay $412.00 for the whole deal. Dealer said my tire insurance would reimburse me. I will wait and see if the check comes in by next week as he said.
The dealer also returned the car to me incredibly dirty. You could see the techs hand prints all over the rim and tire. Even the guys at the car wash were disgusted.

So far, this is a BMW US rule only. I'm in Canada, tires are really loud, and Dunlop is only willing to split the cost 50/50 (I have 12,000 km on mine) . Dunlop says its not the tires fault (as I have the "new" RF), but there is something wrong with the car ...
BMW has build a PUMA case for me, I'll let you know what happens, but trust me, if Dunlop replaces for free my RF, I will support Dunlop as they try to fix their issues with the tire, but I will not spend a penny on a Dunlop (50/50 split) if they aren't willing to back up their product!

It's just that the combination of runflat tires being more prone to noise and irregular wear because of design and materials used in the tire and the negative camber already present makes the issue become even more pronounced on vehicles like E60.
Park Ave. BMW. They also have an Acura dealer that has taken good care of my wife's 2 Acura's. That's the main reason I went to them for my 545, becuase of the great service we got at Park Ave Acura. Always on time and always clean, even in 2003 when we would take in the wife's 1991 Legend with 232,000 miles, always came out looking new. She now has a 2003 TL and will be getting an MDX from them next year when her lease is up. Oh, and she gets a brand new 2005 loaner, I get a 2 door 2003 Ford Focus POS. My wife laughed so hard when she saw me in it she almost pissed on her self. Glad I made her day.
