Saw this on "The Car Connection" daily news and wonder if this could include Dunlops on the BMWs at a later time?
Lawsuit Alleges Run-Flat Failures
Toyota and Goodyear are being sued for what claimants say are "defective" run-flat tires on the Sienna minivan. A New York law firm filed the suit on behalf of one Stanley Monk and other owners, the AP reports, who charge that the run-flat tires wear out after just 10,000 miles of use. The tires were made by Goodyear but sold under the Dunlop imprint on the Toyota minivan. Run-flat tires are designed with stiff sidewalls that provide on-road capability even when a tread puncture deflates the tire. Lawyers allege in the suit that the tire wear effectively means the tires must be replaced yearly at a cost of $1300 or more.

As long as BMW keeps giving us free tires, I don't see how we're suffering any damages.
Actually, I'm quite pleased getting replacements for free -- even if they are Dunlops...

Further, the tires must be replaced "yearly"? Give me a break. Even if so, what's stopping them from switching away from runflats? What about the effective safety gains of runflats?

[/quote]With the Toyota Sienna minivan with runflats, there is no storage space for a spare, so switching to non-runflats is not much of a choice.
I got a flat on my 545 last week. Dropped off the car at 7:30 am at the dealer on Wednesday, did not get it back till Friday at 5:30 pm. Three full days to locate and mount a new runflat tire. I had to pay $412.00 for the whole deal. Dealer said my tire insurance would reimburse me. I will wait and see if the check comes in by next week as he said.
The dealer also returned the car to me incredibly dirty. You could see the techs hand prints all over the rim and tire. Even the guys at the car wash were disgusted.

Regardless of how hard they are to mount, my dealer cleaned each wheel by hand before giving me my car. It's a bummer that your dealer didn't take the extra steps to do what's right...
