So, today I had my first "incident" with my new-to-me 545i... I was driving this afternoon when I felt something in my right front tire . I got out of the car and saw the head of a screw or bolt of some sort attached to the front passenger side tire hanging out slightly causing a thumping with every revolution... so I figured I can just go get it pulled and plugged like a "normal" tire... much to my dismay, and call me an idiot because I didnt know this about run flats, you cant plug it and it has to be replaced... seriously??! On my way to have it replaced the screw (or whatever) flew out and thankfully did not impale another tire in the process... and my flat tire notification came on in the idrive. Instead of a couple bucks for a pull and plug, I got to spend $400 on one single tire!!!!!! $400!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ugghh!!! Having not done my research yet for new meats on my car and being in a situation where I needed a tire asap I felt like I had no choice... I can say that I WILL be replacing all my tires with non run flats soon!
Hankook v12's????

where was the puncture at? if it was near the sidewall, tire shops wont repair it.
if it was anywhere else in the tread, i would have just gotten a $5 tire plug kit and done it myself...dont even have to take the wheel off the car.

Discount Tire will patch it for free if its not in the side wall, even if it is a run flat tire. The stealership WILL NOT plug it because they want to sell you a new tire, go figure.

It was in the tread... and Town Fair Tire, Firestone and Midas all would not touch it... I dont have a Discount Tire near me (none in the entire Northeast Region!) and as for overpaying, even Tire Rack charges $380 for the Dunlop SP Sport 01... The Conti's you mention are not run flats. The dealership along with a couple reputable tire shops wont put anything on the car other than what is OEM. According to the Service Manager, a plug would last for a short period of time only due to the tires composition...
Either way I will be going to traditional non run flat tires soon and having an independent shop install them.

Just had one patched at Firestone Saturday, $25. Perelli P-Zero Nero. Discount wouldn't patch Perelli, nor Costco. Lambs wanted to sell me new tires, they suck anyway...

Like a regular tire, so long as the puncture is in the tread not the sidewall, it can be plugged/patched.
