With conservative driving, I was told around 30k miles for my Bridgestone Run-flats. I also found out that depending on the manufacturer, run-flats may not be repairable (like my tires).
If you were surprised by the dealer telling you that you're tires were wearing unevenly, it seems that you may need to inspect your car more often. I always check my tires for wear and pressure and open the hood regularly just to check things out.
It's a good habit. I even get on the ground and look underneath just to make sure nothings hanging or stuck in there somewhere.
You never know. It's cheap insurance. So when something happens you know it sooner rather than later.
And something always happens.

I just had mine replaced at a little over 20,000 miles. I had taken the car in for an oil change and they told me I needed new rear tires. I asked the service manager to check them out with me. He came outside, looked at the rear tires and told me that I definetely needed new tires. He decided that as a precaution he would check out the front tires and wow, the inside edges of both tires were worn through to the point where you could see frayed thread. He told me that no way would he allow me to leave the premises with those tires. I ended up having to get 4 new tires and an allignment and a $2,000 bill.
