Can someone clear it up if when taking a RF Tyre off the rim and replacing it that a Normal Tyre machine (by that I mean one that normally removes non-run flat tyres) is ok at doing it..

I've got a puncture on my rear tyres and I've been to 4 different tyre dealers two said they can do it and 2 say they can not as they would scratch the alloy. Funny enough 3 of them were all the same company just different branches but non had any stock

I'm going to wait and call the dealer tomorrow and see if they have any in stock, I'm not looking forward to the bill from em But just wondered if a "special" tyre machine is needed...
Old tyre machines don't work properly for RFT tires ! There is a huge risk to scratch the rim & to kill the tyre ! Some machines can be modified (special RFT adaptator), but all BMW dealers had to buy a new special tire machine. Professional tyre shops also bought new machines ...

3 men jumping on your wheel to try to fit a RFT tyre is not a nice show ...

Agreed! that's something I'd rather not see, esp. if it's my rim they're jumping on!

Hey but shouldn't a bmw dealer have all the necessary machines to do that?
Sure they do.

But if you only want to repair a RFT and not buy a new one from them, then they won't help you.

A friend of mine works for Goodyear and he says that most branches of HiQ have technicians trained in removal and repair of runflats. Might be worth giving them a call if you have a branch nearby.

P.S. What make and size of tyres are yours?
