I had to get 2 patches in RFTs due to nails (at different times). One was in the first week of ownership of the 650i Same thing as above, only if the tire hasn't been driven on with lost pressure, and in the center of the tread. I found a Bridgestone/Firestone dealer that did mine.

Think about it, if the patch fails on the run flats you can still drive safely on it- its a run flat!

Cool

That's the price you pay for a run-flat, it seems kind of stupid.
Don't spend $400 on a new tire. Instead, ditch the run-flats and get yourself some regular tires, cost you a little over $400 for all 4 tires, that can be patched .

This morning, I had my left rear patched and plugged at Firestone. Unfortunately, they scratched my wheel and now I have to go back in on Monday to meet with the store manager on how they plan on fixing it.

I don't know how good some companies are as far as fixing a wheel scratch, but if I was you I'd have them reimburse me for the cost of a new one. This happened to me a while back on my other car at a carwash and they told me to go back to the dealership, get a new one and bring them the reciept for the cost. They had the check for me a week later.

update 4 ya. I kept losing air over the span of a week so I took it in to get checked out and it was a nail. To my surprise i was able to have it repaired, Since Discount couldnt get me the kuhmo I got the Falken 452 instead. So yes you can patch the run flats each application is different though.

when i told the bmw service advisor that i was gonna replace the run flats with a set of non run flats, he said that the flat tire monitor will always show a flat tire warning... does anyone know if he is correct? thanks

Yes, they have a dealer bullshit warning. Air pressure is air pressure, they don't know what tires are installed. I have non-runflats installe now for a couple weeks and no problems.
