I'm getting a "'left tire low" warning in the car. I have 500 miles on these damn tires. Took her out for first real drive yesterday, all of 50 miles and this happens.

Queestion is how long do I have on run flats until can't drive them? Tire looks completely normal and drives fine. I added some air and light warning went off. Came back on later last night but again, tire looks fine.

What's the deal? Can I get the tire patched if its a hole or am I screwed? I had two sets of tires on my e46 and NEVER got a flat.

Thx.

Have you checked the pressure, it may just be it has dropped from 2.4bar to 2.3bar.

Just go to a Filling station and check them, pressure can change quickly on new tyres, they always say check them after the first week.

RTFM--------------You can go up 50 mph to a distance of 150 miles if your FTM comes on and you actually have a flat. There have been times when the FTM comes on and after you check your tires for pressure they are ok. Good luck
cheers

Well upon further review, I found a huge nail in my tire - guess I am lucky the run flats are working. I did hit 80 on way home yesterday, that was stupid. RF tire is holding up remarkably well considering.

Guess I am off to dealership tomorrow for replacement tire. Expensive replacement! Hopefully they can do it while I wait.

Go to a tyre centre as they can probably plug the hole for $20.

Hmmm...

Once you have used a runflat in that way (50mph for 50[I thought but say 150] miles) then the only place for it is the tip.

The side walls have done their one-time job.

Patching such a tyre is a risk I'd personally not take.

In that case use it as a good excuse to get rid of the run flats, they absolutely destroy the ride on the E60/61.

Some do some don't. If you don't overdo the profile, they're fine.

And wmbiii regards ONE runflat replacement as expensive...

Not only are my Goodyear NCT's destroying the ride, the ones on the rear are destroying themselves..

Cracks and bits of tread missing and only 7800 miles. Dealer has tyre rep in tomorrow to have a look....

Isn't that risky? I figured I would replace entirely as I believe I read run flats don't taker well to plugs. Anyone care to comment on that for me?
