In the EU version, intuitively IMHO, it means the direction in which traffic is moving slowly.

You too, would travel slowly in that direction.

Looks like a feature of little use to you!

ABC

ABC, that picture wasn't the worst day in LA. lol

last evening (5PM local time), the warning blocks are almost completely cover LA, I couldn't see the map!!

What confuses me is the arrows were pointing to the opposite direction, it happens many times.

I'll take a pic- Im fairly certain I dont have RTTI. My build date is 5/2006- I think I read somewhere that RTTI was added 9/2006 w/ navigation...I could be wrong though.

Right. RTTI was put into NAV on 5-Series (without HD radio) starting 9/2006. I may have the last 5-Series with NAV built without RTTI (August 26 build), and my dealer says a retrofit is in the works from BMW. Others on this board differ from that view, however, so time will tell. It's a combination of hardware, firmware and software which has to be changed, it seems. If you got a 5-Series w/NAV and HD Radio, that seems to have knocked out the RTTI piece due to not enough antenna space in the fin. They seem to have fixed that issue in the 2008 LCI 5-Series, as it looks like you can get both, but maybe not.

Changes are in the works for RTTI so that it will be more efficient and faster in displaying problems and solutions. Garmin has been saying that the system is going to get a lot better in the next couple of years. We'll see.

I hope that you are right regarding changes in the works for RTTI to make it faster. I find that many times, traffic jams are shown when they have already been cleared and then there are times when the roads appear clear and there is a major problem. It's hard to know when to believe it and when to ignore it.
