Just about to finalize a deal on an 07 530i Silver Gray/Black Leather. If I want to use my ipod but don't care about it displaying on the i-drive screen is there an aux jack I can just plug it into or do I need this ipod interface that there seems to be so much discussion about?

Thanks

There's an aux jack on the back of the center console (weird location). You'll need the iPod adapter kit if you want something more integrated.

Chris,

Thanks for the response, have you tried this? If so just wondering how it sounded.

Looks like we have similiar tastes in vehicles, how do you like it?

If you go the aux input direction, you should get the adaptor that plugs into the bottom of the ipod and has the aux jack and the power supply inputs that attach to the car. That way you get the line signal from the ipod (better that the jack on top) and you are continually charging the ipod.

This is what I have and it works great. Do not run the aux input into the headphone jack on the iPod.

THanks for your response, do you have any idea where I can order that from?

Although, I gotta be honest. I dont use my iPod as much anymore. On long drives maybe, but for short drives, I love listening to Sirius Sat Radio. It's fantastic! Get this option, if you still have the chance.

This is what I have for my car. One end connects to the AUX input and the other end connects into the bottom part of the iPod (not the ear jack connector).

Here is the post from the DIY section. This is from "stream" and includes installing the aux input which you dont need to do. But the Monster cable part you need to accomplish the 12 volt and the aux connection all from the bottom of the ipod. I would cut off the cigarette lighter input if i were doing this, and just solder the wires, but what he did works too.

Good Luck.
