Did you check the right side grounding pack? Some have solved this issue by adding another ground wire. You can search and find how-to.

My Ride: 2010 550i M SPORT PKG - sport suspension (ARS) 19" x 8.0" front & 19" x 9.5" rear double-spoke M wheels,M-Tech Bumper, M-Side Skirts, 6-Speed Steptronic w/OD, RPI GT Exhaust, RPI scoop, 20% tint
Like the other members said, there was a recall on the tail lights. I had that same error message and the received a recall letter from BMW and they were replaced for free.
