Dealer and other people you spoke to are all talking rubbish.
You can replace the current RFT with NON-RFT without a problem a friend of mine runs a tire place in Edinburgh he does 4-5 cars a week all runflats.
I replaced my RFT 18's with 19 non RFT what a difference.

step one NEVER go to the dealer lol
i was gonna swap to normal tyres but then i had a blow out and been able to just carry on driving, then drive to work the next day and drive to a good tyre place and just have it swapped for ?200 (ouchy) well it was all 2 dam convenient LOL so even though the ride is harsher and they cost more, due to my laziness they are staying lol

So I telephoned BMW GB Cust Services today and demanded an explanation
Apparently they have stated that you can put Non RFT's on the standard M Sport alloys...and that it will affect the ride and nadling, but "some like it and some don't".
So come on then, those who have gone to Non RFT's - wh doesn't like it .... ? I bet there's not many!

No contest Buddy,
I had Dunlop RTF's on standard 135 style 18" and having driven BMW for 12 years was shocked at how harsh the ride was - noisy too, especially on braking.
Read the forum posts, talked to 2 dealers who said 'we won't do it, suspension was designed for RFT's'. I realised the same dealer would sell you alloys with non-RFT as an option as part of your new car or as an aftermarket accessory! So clearly they were bullshitting.
I took the plunge, swapped to Michelin non-RFT's on the same 18" alloys and it now drives and is as quiet as BMW's should be. I LOVE IT.
My local garage says they have had a lot of BMW customers change back to non-RFT's and all on the original alloys.
There are a few good tyres other than the Michelin, so find something that has a good write-up to suit your pocket.
Good Luck,

Only way to stop the RFT madness is to buy other brand cars. Unfortunately, I will be doing that unless the local dealer is willing to swap tires and give me a spare.......
