Rev limit - 525d, 530d, 535d
#1
My 525d LCi has "red dashes" on the tachometer (revcounter) at 4,500rpm which then turn solid at 5,000rpm.
When driving, either in D, DS or M modes the most it will rev to is 4,500rpm.
On other cars and bikes I have had, you have been able to rev through the dashes but the revs have not been allowed to enter the solid red as the engine management system comes in.
If you own one of these cars, can you say what you can actually get it to rev to before the engine management system intervenes.
Thanks.

I have a new 535d, (3days old), I have noticed the white band on the rev counter that moved on my previous non LCI, now does not move at all, I get in the car in the morning, and it stays static?
Previous car used to move after about five minutes, to give you greater rev band after warming up.

Don't forget that power decreases after it reaches the top, so going further doesn't make sense. You'd better shift...

Well, 5000 rpm on my 525d manual.
Not really necessary, top hp is at 4000 rpm. I think that 530 and 535 share same numbers (all 3.0 ltr cu.)

If yours is 5000 rpm, this is different to my auto.
From the information section on the forum, the engine graphs suggest 4500rpm for 525d and 530d, and 4750 rpm for 535d.

Look at any diesel torgue curbs you'll see that also the bhp curb is lost after some rpm's.

You need to understand that a diesel engine do not need high rpm's.

I am trying to see if the latest engines all rev to same amount or not. Ithink 535d revs higher but can you confirm this?
As per my original post, I find it strange that I can't get the engine to enter the dashed region as on other vehicles it is a warning zone, and then entering the solid red is precluded.
