I read on the manual that rev limit can be decreased depending on the warm process of the engine, i.e. when the engine starts after beeing stoped for a long period the tachometer extends the warning field by increasing segments before the red area.
Well, mine which is a 525D starts with those segments up to 4K, 4.2K I'm not sure... but it keeps those segments for ever whatever trip I make! Is it because I'm running a diesel car or is it because the car has only 1200 Kms.
Any of you guys driving the some car has experience the same "problem"?

Fpinto,
Mine is a 530d, when i start the car the revs will be aroud 4,100/4,200.
After some minutes wil start increasing until it stops at 4,600 i think.
Since it was new it always was like that.

The lines aren't supposed to disappear, when you start the car the white lines will be around 4,100 rpm and then when the engine starts to get the normal working temperature the lines will move to 4,600 rpm. You will get more 500 rpm in the lines.

What do you mean 'move' ?
I have the same issue (no change once the engine is warm.) But I thought that maybe the outside temp. is not cold enough to see any difference. Maybe it just makes a difference in winter (like the pre-heating of the engine before you start also depends on the outside temp.)
I also thought maybe the red part would move up or down accordingly ins tead of the white lines moving ?
Does anyone have a pic of this in both situations?. I would take a pic of mine, but my girlfriend is on a trip and has take the camera with her. <_<

My 530d starts with about 4K - 4.1K, and after few minutes the whitw lines drop to about 4.5 - 4.6K. Always has been like that, an I have just over 1000KM in the display.
Any experiences how up it goes when starting in cold weather? My baby haven't yet seen snow...

With cold weather it could take a little more time getting the normal engine temperature. I tried it around 3? C, and it worked like that.
