Little update.

I've been talking to the dealer from the 2nd link and he's sure that the lenses come off with sensible use of a heat gun and that the projector for the xenon dipped beam is built into the unit and there's no need for projector headlights.

I dont get what you mean? xenon lighting has always been the dipped beam through a projector light unit. Bi-Xenon the projector lens has a shutter built in as well to change the light pattern for full beam. If you have halogen lights then they are not built for either dipped or main xenon beams. If your fitting HIDs you need a projector lens to do it properly.

Ideally I will find a set of OEM bi-xenons but there aren't many about at sensible money. I'll still keep a look out for a set.

Dandle I think its my wording thats confusing. I know OEM Bi-xenon has dipped and then a shutter for full beam. I think what the dealer was trying to say is the dipped beam and projector is built into the xenon unit. This is where I have doubts about it being suitable for std halogen lights as the headlight unit is not designed for a projected beam.

Halogen bulb shines straight out from the centre and if I fit these then the dipped beam will be projected backwards and onto the reflectors. Not sure where the beam is going to be deflected to and it might be all over the place and dazzle oncoming traffic.

To go to the trouble of buying std halogen reflector lights and then fitting this kit sounds pretty silly as it may end up costing close to getting factory bi-xenons.

PS I retrofitted OEM Bi-Xenons to my e46 and am confident that the e60 will be just as simple. Just a little loom and capicitor to avoid flicker and bulb out warnings.

Just seen you're signature StreetPro. Can you get oem rhd Bi-xenons

Decided to just hold out for some OEM Bi-xenons. If a set pops up and money is realistic then I'll buy them. Only paid ?300 for OEM Bi-Xenons for the e46 and that's looking very cheap in comparison to E60/61 :o
