Had my dealer check into retrofit of confort seats. I'm being told that it will cost $9600 . This is crazy. This is a down payment on a new BMW. So after the shock, I ask about adding just the head rest. I am being told that this can't be done because they must change the motor and the rods. Can anyone conform this, I think they are just trying to discurage me

That is correct. Someone earlier in the forum tried and found that the rods for the Comfort were a different size than the standard.

I was going to say that they are trying to discourage you and that the wiring harness needed to control the comfort seats is there and the extra connections just aren't used, but with the current cost savings/cutbacks of car companies and the extra added features of the comfort seats, they wiring harness is probably completely different the correct harness is placed during production depending on the order codes. To make the change, they would probably have to rip out the entire harness and replace it. $9600 may be a extreme, but I am sure it wouldn't be cheap.

9600$ sounds right.
To replace the regular side windows and the rear window with protective glass (an option what is 1600 Euro upon order) cost about 9000 Euro.
I found it very funny that the comfort seats are in the German accessories brochure, because for that price no one will ever buy them (BTW, the brochure says for price: on request... ).

Just buy the seats and do it yourself.
