Replacing valve cover gaskets- any other suggestions?
Hey everybody, so while I have everything dissembled to replace the valve cover gaskets to fix oil seeping from them I wonder if there is any other preventative maintenance I should consider doing in the vicinity?

I think I will also replace the coolant pipe, I hope that's where I'm losing some coolant from.
Thanks in advance the advice .

Hey thanks for the suggestion! I should have noted I am working with a 545i 140k miles. is the oil filter housing gasket on the bottom of the motor/accessed from under the car? I am going through the top to change the valve cover gaskets and possibly coolant transfer pipe, and likely the alternator mount seal.
I'm also not sure if my coolant leak is from the valley pan or coolant transfer pipe, so I'm undecided about going in to change the coolant transfer pipe

no oil filter gasket on our car. Valve covers aren't the only rubber item on the top of the engine. They come as a set with a couple other seals for screws and the inside seal of the valvetronic motor check our every engine diagram for you car on BMW Parts Catalog and see what other seals you might need. From memory i remember there are other seals for valvtronic and the sparkplug tubes and might as well change the CCV system as those can improve your vacuum in your engine and they are cheap also get some lower seals for your fuel injectors as it will make removing the valve covers much easier with them removed and they will most probably be shot and that will also improve vacuum in your engine.
