An OBD reader will not pick up a BMW proprietary code.
OP - It could definitely be a glitch or that your battery is on its way out. If it's a fault it can be cleared but will re-appear until issue is fixed. Since you don't own your own diagnostic tools specifically for BMW, this is not a cost-effective method. I may be able to diagnose your vehicle remotely but you'll first need to make sure your battery is good. PM me for details.

 

I just got this dreaded error message I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow :thumbsdown:

 

I found this SIB going to the dealership tomorrow and see what they say. Also I'm having my battery cable replaced under the recall they had not while ago.

 

The label on the electronic module attached to the OC3 seat mat shows the production date in dd/mm/yy format. The improved mats were introduced at the
following dates:

07/11/05 (November 7, 2005) ? All E90, E85 (Sport), All E60/E61, All E65/E66, All E53, All E83.

Funny...my car was manufactured in 11/17/2005 and I still had to have my OC3 matte changed. I had the 93C3 error. No issues since.

 

Wow!!! did you get it replaced under the recall?

 

Nope...The BMW SA said it my car wasn't under a recall which was weird because I saw other articles on it. However I got it changed under CPO warranty.

BTW...there maybe some confusion. Some people say the new matt has a 10 year warranty...which is false. It's covered for 10 years from the original sale date of the car. So if your car is 2004 and you get a new matt, the warranty on that is only good for another 2 years.

 

dang I'm hoping I don't have to put up a fight for them to cover it then. My car is a 06 and my CPO warranty expired last month. But it clearly states what production year is covered and not. The weird thing is when I called the dealership today the battery cable recall popped up but the passenger airbag sensor did not.

Here is what the outcome ended up being in my case:
"The dealer found faults for safety battery switch. Tested and found to have high resistance. Replaced the battery cable (Part Number 61-12--7-835-218) and retested.

The part was $231.40
Labor was $371.

Use the BMWCCA club discount, or look up on the dealers website, incase they have a single job discount coupon.

I could have paid the dealer for the diagnosis and replaced the cable myself, but opted to pay a little more so they would replace this part and retest.
