my car key has died ... after 5 long ass years ... it's costing me $120 to replace it, but does anyone have a better hook up!?!???

 

do u have comfort acess ? if so, u r getting a swell deal cuz from what i have heard it's in the 3 to $400. Also please pm where ur getting the deal. I only have 1 key & would like to have 1 more 4 backup. thanks

 

If the OP has had the key for five years, there was no comfort access option back then. I never had an issue with my old 545 key but I suppose the built battery will reach a point where it won't charge any more and the whole key must be replaced. $120 is about what I paid to replace a key lost in Katrina. I don't know of any other source as BMW must program the key for your VIN...

 

If you have Comfort Access it's a simple battery replacement - about $4 at any radio shack or CVS! If it isn't Comfort Access I"m very surprised the rechargeable key has failed after only 5 years. I'd ask BMW to provide some financial consideration ... like splitting the cost of a replacement.
