Has anybody got any tips regarding the removal of the "continuous ring" type jubilee clips that BMW are now using, without damaging any of the relevant hoses? I'm not sure, but I think they may be called "anti-tamper jubilee clips".

Oops! To answer my own question if I may - I don't think they are meant/required to be removed, as it would appear that the hoses that have them fitted are probably sold complete with the appropriate push-on clip fittings at either end. (My original query was in relation to the hoses which are connected to the thermostat housing).

OK. Up until now, I've always had radiator hoses etc. that were fitted with jubilee clips which had a screw fitted in order to tighten/loosen them, but on my present car, an '05 E60 530D,- no such luck. Instead, a great many of the hoses have jubilee-TYPE-clips, without any screw attached. They are just a continuous ring, with no apparent join, and seem to have been machined on during manufacture. There also appears to be fittings on each end of the hoses, which must have been fitted whenever these "jubilee rings" were fitted, and from what I can gather, they are called "fast release couplings".
So, to sum up, unless someone can explain otherwise, it would appear that the said hoses must have been fitted with half a coupling at each end, using machined rings.

I see. Knowing BMW, they made it so you'd have to spend money to fix something instead of a convenient, easy-to-use method with a DIY.
