I have brought my 167's rims to try to get the tires remove from the rims....I went to 2 places Firestone and STS and they tried but could not get it done (I wanted to make sure that they do not scratch the rims). I asked Circle BMW and they want to charge me $60 each wheel...just to get them dismounted ....no balance nothing. Can anybody help to recommend a shop that can do it or any suggestions?

Well the STS shop on Queens Blvd. in Jamaica is very careful. If you decide to go that far, ask for Vish and tell him I referred you.

They are very very careful and take excellent care of my wheels. They just fittted my winter tires onto my 17" winter wheels for me.

I was reading your response, I am in LI also and I am looking for a tire shop that knows how to handle the larger tire and rim sizes (275/30/19), even the friggin dealer scratched my rims while mounting some tires for me! Maybe you can give me the address of your shop, Thanks.

Have you tried Eurotire in Fairfield, NJ. I've been using them for years. They're very careful, and one of the owners drives a 650i.

Any Costco- $8- 10/rim or an STS. I have had tires mounted at both, I never had any problem.
No dealer's......they rip you off.

Mounting/dismounting the tires is not the problem, anybody can do that, but doing it WITHOUT scratching up my wheels is a different story! I believe there exist a special machine designed for aluminum alloy wheels that prevents this from happening. Short of physically going to every shop in a given area, how do I go about finding out who is most careful when handling these wheels? as I said before, I asked for and received a different set of tires upon delivery of my car, and was mortified when I saw that they scratched my BRAND NEW WHEELS while changing the tires! I figured that the dealer probably mounts/dismounts tires all the time, so this was the last thing that I would expect to see, guess I was wrong Where are the GOOD tire guys on LI?

I got it done at NY550's place...dismounted and mounted a set of Vredestein. No issues.
Also you can check tire rack about installers in your area (search by area code). Click on the shops and it will show you the machines they use to mount/dismount them. You want to look for the the Hunter TC 3500A- machine.

Roy - Barnwell House of Tires in Mineola does all my wheel work. They got my runflats off my OEM 18's and are the only ones allowed to touch my 19" CSL's. Let me know if you need more info.
