So, in UK, the antenna is located in the driver side of the US model (left side). Then would the US car has the antenna located in passenger side (right side) ?
Antena is located on same side as driver (US model or equivelant ie; left-hand-drive model).

I just did the antenna replacement and the antenna was in the passenger side C-Pillar of US model.

I had my diversity antenna replaced a couple of weeks ago, the remote now works from almost 100 yards away.
The dealer replaced mine under warranty but the job looks easy enough to do yourself.

Can you please provide the service code for the work that they performed? Or a picture of the invoice that they gave you showing the work that was done?

I have gone to my dealer on at least 4 different occasions about this issue and they refuse to do the work citing the fact that I have tinted windows. I have shown him the documentation that my tint is 100% non-metallic and that it is the same tint I had on my E92 and E46 and there were no problems with those, but they refuse to do anything. When I said what if I strip the tint, he says that they cannot do anything until the system totally breaks down. So no matter what, they are not going to do anything until the whole system becomes inoperable.

Your service code might be helpful. Any other advice on how to deal with them would be appreciated. My car is still under original warranty so I do not want to DIY this or have to pay for any parts.

If you could also get me your service code from your invoice and/or a copy of the invoice itself that would also be greatly appreciated. Going in there with the most examples and ammo I think is the only way I can get the work done.

Thanks.

I would not accept their statement about having to be completely non-operative.The system is not working correctly and should be repaired.Tell them that you will complain to BMW and see if that changes their stance.

I have gotten the same response from two dealers. Furthermore, In order for my threats of complaining to BMW to work, I would have to spend the money to strip my tint and then have to reapply it afterwards. That is why I was hoping to get service codes from people who have had the repair done to show them proof that others are getting the work done.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide you the service code. It is because I did the diversity amplifier replacement myself. My car is already out of warranty, so I like to do the work myself, whatever within my ability.

I assume that all functioned correctly after you had the tint fitted, which would prove that the problem is nothing to do with the tint. Why can't the dealers accept that ?If it becomes a stalemate why not offer to buy the diversity antenna (which you would do anyway for a DIY repair) on the condition that you are reimbursed in full if the problem is solved?

Ive just found my invoice from them, I cant find a service code on the invoice.
I must admit its the first time Ive really looked at the invoice.
It says
Removed and replaced aerial amp tested ok
There is no price written down for aerial amp or labour

Sorry.

But the antena is in the C pillar behind 2-3mm of painted / treatd steel.
How can tints with a micron level of metal stop it working when the antena is behind that much steel anyway
This statement by BMW is beyond beleif.

When I had this problem, I just took the car to BMW asked for the service manager and told him this is your car I don't want it back until it is fixed, so don't tell me 'we don't have the part's, or we don't know what the problem is" just fix it and call me when it''s done. It was fixed in 24hrs, this was following 2-3 visits with no success and lot of excuses from service dept.
