The above thread deals with your problem.

Dealer told me the tint affects the fob distance...

If you dont have tint than I will deny ever having answered your question.

The receiver for the opening is in the C pillar (so not affected by tints) . Mine went faulty and worked intermitently and was replaced.

There is a neat trick you can try to increase range for the fob, hold the end of the fob against the skin on the side of your head (temple) it increases the range quite a lot. This is not a joke...it really works, don't ask me how !

I had tried that trick using all the area of my head but did not work at all. I use this trick with my Volvo remote, and it works perfect. I just got the price of the diversity antenna from Newport BMW : $148 + shipping.

You will need to switch keys every so often for the keys to charge.

Did you get metalized tint recetly? If so, that can hender the performance of the key fob.

I use 1 key for going to work in the morning and the other key to drive home after work. Both keys get 40 miles of charging times + traffic jam. This happens every day. I am pretty sure that both keys get "almost full" charging. I don't have tint at all from day 1. So, metallic tint effect and battery under charged are not in the picture.

My 2 key remotes working distance is getting less and less every day. Now, I have to stand next to the car that remote could lock/unlock the doors. Sometimes, I press the lock/unlock buttons many times, and doors would not lock/unlock. I use these keys everyday and the batteries inside should be charged. I drove the car about 100 miles each day.

What is the cause of the reduction of remote working distance ?

Thanks.
The manual says that if you have Comfort Access, the battery can be replaced.

Okay, I had order a new diversity antenna from Newport BMW - $148 + $10 (shipping). According to the post in this thread, the connector of this antenna is on the driver side C-pillar. However, the member who did the replacement is from UK. So his driver side is equivalent to our passenger side in US. Where is this antenna connector located in US E60 ?
