My girlfriend is going to get my car remaped for me for christmas... now there are a few companys out there and all at different prices. she also has a friend who used to have a garage who will do it for half there prices... is there good and bad remaps? i duno what to get done

 

Yes. Go with a reputable tuner that has experience dealing with your E60 as it can be a minefield and if not done properly can push components such as your turbo to its limits...

Cheaper does not always mean better, go with experience and reputation. If you want recommendations I would recommend http://www.e-maps.co.uk/ well known and Simon has a good reputation on the UK BMW forums.
